Clockwork New Year Party
Privileged indeed to headline Clockwork's massive New Year party, with support from great Bristol bands, First Degree Burns and Dr. Meaker. Popped out for a nap shortly after midnight and came back in to fight through the heaving, sweaty and mostly wobbling zombie crowd. A hugely surreal and packed-out gig.
Somehow the floor of the backstage area is covered in mud, it's like the 2007 summer festivals are back to haunt us one more time.
The past year has been pretty good to us - an awesome run of festivals in the summer, gigs in new towns and new friends all over the country. We've had some decent profile remix releases and a single which performed well on the downloads. Exactly how well, we're not sure... I suspect labels are typically lazy to give money even if it's owed..
The music industry continues to shake-up... the majors continue to reduce as many risks as possible and that means more opportunities for those willing to take risks. As an emerging, upcoming band trying to get into an increasingly more fragmented business, I don't think it's going to be any easier or harder. There are more paths to success, but they're not as obvious as they used to be.
Hmm.. There's been no mention of any resolutions amongst the band.. I think we do okay. Everything in moderation. Including excess.
2008 dates have stacked themselves up pretty nicely already, there's a good bunch of dates lined up. Getting out of the country for the first time (Spain in March) is gonna be an awesome experience. Stuey is getting married to beautiful Natalie in April so we've working around wedding-assosciated things. (And you can hear a million Subsource fans' hearts breaking... get over it)
One more sign of increasing success that I've noticed towards the end of this year - the pheneomenon where a fan comes up to you and you have no recollection of seeing them before. Time to hone those bluffing and feigning skills!
