Gig Review: Friday 30th April - Farnham Maltings
I think I'm dying. When you're ill and told to take it easy and get plenty of rest, it's not instruction to take a day off out of sympathy, it's actually pretty good advice. Subsource gigs are pretty physically demanding (at least for me - walking up 2 flights of stairs to my flat is the most exercise I'll tend to do in a day)) and combined with the flu, it's left a searing pain in my neck and lower back, with bouts of deep nausea. Overall, it's not an enjoyable feeling, but nevertheless the show had to go on - we don't get sick pay.
Had good old 8-Fold on before us so we knew the crowd would be going by the time we got on. Due to things being a little close to closing time, the set was cut short to about 30 minutes... bit off of the bouncer to actually start unplugging leads from Paul's gear during our last tune though. Short set was a blessing for me, I think I would have expired had we gone on for a full hour. Great crowd and a cool little festival - bargain for £1 entry.
Voodoo vocals made their debut at the gig, so I'm singing now. Was made not so bad by the fact I was too busy trying to maintain consciousness to worry about how awful I was. (By the way, "Making Voodoo" charted at number 21 in the breaks chart in DJMag this month.)
Right I'm off to curl into a ball and rock from side-to-side.
