Ugly

Unfortunately my neighbour requested that I move the van to anywhere out of viewing range today, so it's feeling a bit unloved. On the plus side, it's been confirmed that we haven't drilled through the petrol tank.

Neil: "Diesel doesn't explode like petrol does so we should be okay"

Comforting.

The van gets its debut tomorrow at the New Year's Eve bash at Ginglik, which will be a blast. Traditionally, the date of the year for musicians that pays the most money but requires zero talent since the crowd will be wasted anyway. Tickets have all sold out and it's gonna be a capacity crowd.. Posted by Picasa

Seats in

Okay, looks like they've done a good job with the extra seats. They reckon they might have punctured the fuel tank whilst working on the van but it's "probably okay". Fine. Good job. Our insurers are gonna love us.

If our insurers happen to be reading this by the way, this photo is obviously a fake mock-up in my living room and of course we wouldn't even consider installing extra, possibly illegal seats in our van.

Broom broom

Okay, we took the plunge and bought the band van. Whilst not the prettiest thing on the road at the moment, just wait until we get it onto 'Pimp My Ride'.

Stuey: "Well... we won't be pulling any chicks in this will we?"

Neil and Stuey are fixing extra seats into the van this afternoon... Posted by Picasa

Hurrah! New Subsource CD's are in.. after a lot of uhm-ing and ah-ing (followed by an abrupt 'I don't care any more, who gives a shit?'-ing) the track listing was decided as:

02. Making Voodoo
03. Fight Em Off
04. Styling (Bonus Track)

You can hear a sneak preview over at www.myspace.com/subsource and we'll get some downloads onto the main site soon.. Posted by Picasa

Bleed for the camera please Nellie

Finally.. a proper photo shoot

Back in the days when Subsource was first formed a couple of years ago, getting some good photos was always a priority. After two years of faffing around, mentioning someone who's got a mate of a mate who owns a camera THIS big and a thousand dodgy blurred shots at gigs, we finally got round to getting them done properly. We took a trip to South Bank and spent a good 6 or 7 hours trying not to look like the next Westlife, blagging our way into places beyond the reach of ordinary civilians and getting ejected from art installations.

I'd just like to say a big hi to the guys in the cloakroom at the Tate Modern who were very kind and were very accommodating. They saw that we had band equipment with us and must have mistaken us for Coldplay or something with the probing about when our next record was out.

Hopefully the photos will come out alright. Neil thought it would be a good idea to attempt to shave 2 weeks worth of facial hair in the garage toilet on the way, using a 10p disposable Bic razor and ended up with quite a few bloody cosmetic additions to his face. That's what Photoshop's airbrush is for eh? After all, where the heck would Subsource be today without quantize? Technology's brilliant. Posted by Picasa

Gig Review: 93 Feet East 10th December 2005

Little bit worried to start with.. it's been a while since we were on as early as 10pm and although the Beatmonkeys were playing some fine tuneage before we were on, fine tuneage is nothing without a crowd that's had a few drinks and ready to jiggle about a bit. No probs though, they were going a little bit more by the third track and the place filled out quite impressively.

I'm glad to say Stuey held off from his celebratory birthday drinks until after we played (avoiding the 'bassist stumbling and verbal crowd abuse syndrome' which is usually assosciated with pre-gig drinking).

(Crowd): Moooooore, moooooore..
(Stuey to DJ): Do you mind if we do one more?

Guess that was a no. Posted by Picasa

Rockin'

Thanks to Record:Play and Big Up Productions, we've had 'Parasite' being used on a rock climbing DVD. We've had some very polite emails come from as far afield as Alaska and Tennessee saying they just heard our tune and they loved it.

Check out the trailer for Dosage Volume III at www.bigupproductions.com. Our music's so good we make people fall off cliffs. Or uh make people lose their grip or some pun like that.
