Gig Review: The Star, Guildford 25th October

Okay, time to come clean. This is the kind of thing that would never get mentioned on our press releases, but we're actually from Guildford. (Or rather living in Guildford) We don't admit unless we have to usually because bangin' drum n bass isn't normally assosciated with the heart of middle-class Surrey.

Typical pre-gig conversation with other (usually scary death metal gangsta)bands:
"So where are you from then?"
"Um, South London"
"Oh cool we're just in Deptford where the crack-whores line the alleys and people shoot up behind the market, where are you?"
"Err, Guildford actually."
"Oh right. Surrey. That's not London at all is it?"
"Ah no, kind of south of London"
"I see. (You guys are pussies)"

So anyway, leaving the door 5 minutes before the soundcheck was due was brilliant. To be honest we never rated The Star (local pub gig) as a particularly good venue to play, but the Spill team have done a great job with what's available. The local muso crowd and our home crowd turned up to support which was great... loads of friendly people and we blasted it. Hard. Had to cut the set slightly short due to running over time, but hopefully we'll be back here again soon.
